Hand-Made Bicycles
Through the University of Iowa and Professor Steve McGuire, I have been a student and graduate assistant of the course ‘Fabrication & Design: Hand-Built Bicycle’ for the past 2 years.
I have made 2 steel frames and will design and fabricate a titanium frame in early 2025. All of these projects consider ride style, specific ergonomics, component tolerances, and budget while employing a host of fabrication skills including drafting, component sourcing, tube mitering, and TIG welding.
As the graduate assistant, I aid design and engineering students through their builds, teaching welding and shop practices, overseeing the digital drafting of all frames, and consulting specific desires from one student to the next.
